On 30 July, explosion at pharma factory Venkata Narayana Active Ingredients at Nellore, Tamil Nadu killed Sayeed Hafeez and left 3 other workers with serious burn injuries
On 29 July, Tarun Sharma (23) a contract worker employed by NTPC at the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant died after the boat he took with a 10 member team to survey the sea for construction of Unit 3 and 4 of the power plant swayed, resulting in 3 members falling into the sea. Kudankulam Marine police registered a case in the matter.
Explosion in the boiler unit of Neyveli Lignite Corporation, Tamil Nadu killed 9 workers on the spot – Padmanabhan (29), Venkatesaperumal (28), Silambarasan (25), Arun Kumar (26), Nagaraj (42), Ramanathan (46), G.Sivakumar (53), G.Selvaraj (50) and C.Ravichandran (50) while 2 workers M.Vaithyanathan (47) and T.Elango (49) died while receiving treatment at the hospital. Several other workers suffered grievous injuries. This is the third such accident at Neyveli in the last 2 years. However, the management or the labour department have still not initiated any safety audit at the plant.
On 6 July, Gokul Gupta (45) died after falling from 2nd floor of a gutkha factory in Nadarganj industrial area, Unnao, Uttar Pradesh. He was not provided any safety equipment by the factory management.
On 5 July, fire at a candle making factory in Modinagar, Uttar Pradesh killed 8 women and 1 man and left over 11 workers severely injured. The factory was illegally operating in a residential area without any license. District Magistrate has initiated proceedings against municipal and labour department officers whose laxity allowed functioning of this illegal unit. Chief Minister has ordered compensation of Rs.4 Lakh each to the kin of the deceased and Rs.50,000 each to the injured.

On 28 July, Bengia Sibi was killed in a land slide while working on the Border Road Organisation project in Kurung Kumey district, Arunachal Pradesh.
Sanitation
On 18 July, 4 contract workers Pravin Rathod, Vijay Barad, Mayur Barad and Prabhu Jamod were killed of asphyxiation at Vishal Fabrics Ltd, a garment factory in Ahmedabad while cleaning a chemical waste tank. Police have filed FIR against the contractor Ramesh Vaghela under Section 304 of Indian Penal Code.
On 2 July, 4 Safai Karmcharis Pandi (24), Raju (19) and Bala (20) of Veeravanallur and Dinesh (23) of Alangulam were killed of asphyxiation after they entered to clean a septic tank in housing complex in Toothkudi, Tamil Nadu. No case has been filed against the contractor who forced them to work without any safety equipment.
